tail linux on surface pro one

installed tails on my surface pro one, winning windows 10. did experience a couple of quirks, that were not documented in the installation guide. so, for the record, below are some details.

configure surface pro to start from usb
configure:
Step 1: Shut down your Surface.
Step 2: Once Surface has turned off, press and hold the volume-up button.
Step 3: With the volume-up button held down, press and release the power button.
Step 4: Continue holding the volume-up button until the Surface logo no longer appears.
Step 5: Select Secure Boot Control.
Step 6: Select Disable.
Step 7: Select Exit Setup.
Step 8: Select Yes to save the configuration and restart Surface.

boot:
Step 1: Shut down your Surface.
Step 2: Insert the bootable USB drive into the USB port on your Surface.
Step 3: Press and hold the volume-down button on Surface.

problem one
when rebooting from usb the following warning message did show up:

WARNING: No configuration file found
boot:

this was due to the way tails was installed when i used the recommended tool universal usb installer. luckily reddit had the remedy, which was to use rufus for installing tails iso on usb. after reinstalling using rufus that problem was solved.

problem two
to install tails on usb number two, using the option "install by cloning", i got the error message:
'NoneType' object has no attribute 'call_create_partition_sync'

the solution here was to go back into windows, and reformat the usb drive. however, through windows explorer windows was unable to do the formatting. i only ended up getting an error message, telling me formatting of drive d: (usb) was failing: "windows was unable to complete the format".

so, from the desktop, selected my computer, selected "manage", then chose "disk management". located the usb drive in the overview, selected it and created a new partition on the usb drive, did a fat format.

rebooted the computer, from the intermediate tails usb, and tried installing by cloning again. finally, it worked.

tails linux ftw

the tibetan rites challenge

moch - challenge #22 march 2016 - the tibetan rites challenge

source: mamabee.com

in march i completed a new challenge. this time, a yoga challenge. every morning in march, as soon as i got up, i did a few minutes of yoga. i did the "five tibetan rites". it was a great way to start the day. no more stiff back in the morning. i am not the most flexible person on the planet, so i had to do some adjustments to a couple of the exercises. i also only did 10 repetitions, instead of the 21 you are supposed to do.

some of the claimed benefits of doing these exercises is to get younger, get better eye sight, and grow your hair back. i was not let down. i felt younger at least, i could throw away my glasses, and my hair growth rocketed. i even got a tan, in march. rites ftw!

before doing the rites

after four weeks of doing the rites (i shaved my beard twice a day).

powerful last words of steve jobs

true, or not true, this is worth sharing:

Powerful last words of Steve Jobs -
I have come to the pinnacle of success in business.
In the eyes of others, my life has been the symbol of success.
However, apart from work, I have little joy. Finally, my wealth is simply a fact to which I am accustomed.
At this time, lying on the hospital bed and remembering all my life, I realize that all the accolades and riches of which I was once so proud, have become insignificant with my imminent death.
In the dark, when I look at green lights, of the equipment for artificial respiration and feel the buzz of their mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of my approaching death looming over me.
Only now do I understand that once you accumulate enough money for the rest of your life, you have to pursue objectives that are not related to wealth.
It should be something more important:
For example, stories of love, art, dreams of my childhood.
No, stop pursuing wealth, it can only make a person into a twisted being, just like me.
God has made us one way, we can feel the love in the heart of each of us, and not illusions built by fame or money, like I made in my life, I cannot take them with me.
I can only take with me the memories that were strengthened by love.
This is the true wealth that will follow you; will accompany you, he will give strength and light to go ahead.
Love can travel thousands of miles and so life has no limits. Move to where you want to go. Strive to reach the goals you want to achieve. Everything is in your heart and in your hands.
What is the world's most expensive bed? The hospital bed.
You, if you have money, you can hire someone to drive your car, but you cannot hire someone to take your illness that is killing you.
Material things lost can be found. But one thing you can never find when you lose: life.
Whatever stage of life where we are right now, at the end we will have to face the day when the curtain falls.
Please treasure your family love, love for your spouse, love for your friends...
Treat everyone well and stay friendly with your neighbours.

the end of img.chronicles.no

once upon a time, there was a picture blog, called "img.chronicles.no"...

as some might have notice, you no longer get access to my picture blog, when you visit img.chronicles.no. instead you get forwarded to my instagram account, where there is a lot less pictures and activity. i still have my old picture blog online. i will keep adding pictures there, on a frequent basis. however, it is no longer access to the public.

the reason why i have hidden my image blog is simply that i no longer wish to share "everything" with "the world". i am now going to use it as my own private photo album, only shared with a few friends and my family. more interesting pictures, maybe. for less people, definitively.

on a longer term i am also planning to introduce a collection of all my online content on one domain, namely on klevstul.com. right now "i'm all over the place". a new version of "img.chronicles.no" might show up there, one day in the distant future.

until today i shared loads of my mobile shots with everyone. time to become a tad more private.
