Race #42 2013 - 10km - 38:50 [PTR] - Saturday 12th of October
Welcome to Furumomila 2013. Magical indeed!
Furumomila is by far my favourite 10km, despite of a few annoyances. Pretty close to perfect this year, as last. Let's start with the grades:
Atmosphere : 5/5
+ This year it was magical!
Toilets : 1/5
- More people, but still not more than 6 (?) toilets. Shit!
Giveaways : 4/5
+ 300 kr for late registration fee.
+ Did get a pin.
Organising : 5/5
+ All good.
Race Timing : 5/5
+ Result were put up on wall after finish.
+ Online the same day.
Track : 4/5
+ The nicest 10 km track I've ever done.
- The start (first 500m) is hectic.
- Should introduce start mat, with cable, instead gross timing.
- 20m longer track this year compared with last. Not sure what is correct.
OVERALL : 4.0 / 5
It doesn't get better than this, that is for sure.
Check out the 2012 report for a map of the track. A track that I love. Despite not being as fast as a flat 10 km asphalt race, Furumomila is fast indeed. Specially for being a terrain race. Last year I did Furumomila in 39:16, while Hytteplanmila was completed in 38:44. In other words a 32 seconds difference. Depending on the type of runner you are, I think it is sound to say that Furumomila is 30 to 90 seconds slower than Hytteplanmila.
This year, despite of a 20m longer track compared with the 2012 version, I finished in 38:50. A time I am pleased with. Nice to see that in average about 40 km of running still gives progress. Slightly sad that I do miss Hytteplanmila next weekend, a race I've done three times in a row, and each time set a new PB on the distance. But as I had to chose in between the two races, the choice was easy. I much more prefer running in the forest to running on asphalt.
In this race I also did set a new unofficial PB on the 5 km. I passed the 5 km mark on exactly 20 minutes, and completed the last part in 18:50. Having said that, the last 5 km is easier than the first 5.
The start of the 5km, where Marius Vedvik was in the lead from the first meter till the last. He finished just below 15 minutes, and did set a new track record.

Mr B and Mr RG ran very well this day as well. We all could agree on it being a very fine day for running.
