Race #24 2013 - 7 km - 30:25 [PB] (after time reduction) - Saturday 13th of July
As I'm organising this race it's hard writing a proper race report. However I reckon the event went very well, thanks to great people helping out and great participants. As there is an unwritten agreement that "what happens at Mærraølen stays at Mærraølen" I can't share too many details either, just give you glimpses into a small, slightly secretive and highly fun race. Oh, I am looking forward to the 2014 version already!
The number of participants were more than tripled since 2012, and the competition was fierce. All records from last year were destroyed. Oddvar won the sprint (check out the video below) in an amazing time, Adelheid broke her own record from last year with almost five minutes and Rune, making his first appearance in beer-running this year, was the first man to finish in sub 30 minutes. And he broke that record by several minutes as well.

Bengt after finished second in this year's race, as in 2012. However now with a better time. All the hours at CB Kroa has definitively been valuable.
Andreas was the first, and is so far the only, person to vomit. He deserves extra credit for giving absolutely everything. He ran in an amazing speed, drank all the optional beers and was the first runner to enter the final drink station. However, he never managed to complete the last 0.5 liter, as he started vomiting. He also forgot bringing his empty bottles / cans (part of the rules) . Hence he had to be disqualified, also that as the first person in the history of this race.
The beer was kept cold (or warm?).
The bottle openers were ready.
The happy wishes were proclaimed.
The prizes were many (thanks SoulSport.no, Løpeskjørt.no and VXG.com).
The shoes were colourful, light and fast.

The sponsors were proud!
The BBQs were hot.
The finishers were happy.
And in one year there might very well be another beer race coming up. In the meantime keep drinking and keep running. The competition will only become harder.
A huge thanks to the great helpers and organisers Tone & Stian, Ingunn, Grethe, Knut and Glenn.
As well as a huge thanks to our sponsors
