Nydri Roll

When I was in Nydri (also spelt Nidri) at Lefkas, Greece I created a new dice game, slightly inspired by Bunco. Here are the rules.

Roll the dice.

Nydri Roll
Genre(s): Dice rolling, Luck, Party
Players: 2 or more.
Dice: 6 (or less)
Age range: 8 and up
Setup time: 1-5 minutes
Playing time: 10 minutes to multiple hours
Random chance: High
Skill(s) required: Scoring and counting

Rules
The winner are the first person to reach 5 points. You can get 1 point in each round.

The player that starts decides a number from 1 till 36 as the target score for the round. The goal is to throw until you reach the target score. You can also stop before the target score has been reached. If you reach the target score you win the round, if you stop before the target score has been reached it's the player to your left (going clockwise) turn. The first player to reach the target score will win the round. If no players reaches the target score it's the player closest to (but not above) the target score that wins the round. If no one reaches the target score, and two or more players has the same hi-score, the first player that reached that round's hi-score will win the round. If all players go above the target score the round's point will be transferred to next round (the player winning the next round will then get two points in stead of one). When the round is over it's the player to the left that takes over and decides a new target score and starts rolling the dice.

Example
of play with 4 players:

FIRST ROUND
Player 1:
- Starts by deciding 14 as the target score.
- Roll die one and gets 5
- Roll die two and gets 6
- Roll die three and gets 2
- Decides to stop at 13 points.

Player 2:
- Roll die one and gets 2
- Roll die two and gets 6
- Roll die three and gets 6

The target score (14) was reached and Player 2 wins the round and gets 1 point.

SECOND ROUND
Player 2:
- Starts by deciding 20 as the target score.
- Roll die one and gets 5
- Roll die two and gets 5
- Roll die three and gets 3
- Roll die four and gets 2
- Roll die five and gets 3
- Decides to stop at 18 points.

Player 3:
- Roll die one and gets 4
- Roll die two and gets 3
- Roll die three and gets 3
- Roll die four and gets 1
- Roll die five and gets 2

- Having rolled all the dice Player 3 has a total score of 14
